Tigers Bounce Back With Big Win Over Mount St. Joseph

SPRINGFIELD, Ohio – The Wittenberg Tigers snapped a two-game losing streak with perhaps their most complete performance of the 2013 season, a 14-6 victory over visiting Mount St. Joseph.

Nine different players scored at least one goal in the game for Wittenberg, which improved to 5-3 on the season. Mount St. Joseph dropped to 4-5.

The Tigers dominated from the outset, scoring the game's first three goals en route to an 8-3 halftime lead. In the third quarter, Wittenberg pitched a shutout, outscoring the Lions 3-0, to put the game well out of reach.

The Tigers held a commanding 49-27 advantage in shots and a 35-14 edge in ground balls. Just as importantly, sophomore Riley Boehm (Eden Prairie, Minn./Eden Prairie) won 17 of his 22 face-offs.

In goal, sophomore Jay Dolan (Andover, Mass./Phillips Andover) made his first start a successful one, piling up 10 saves. Boehm led both teams in ground balls with 11, while senior Alex Previte (Dublin, Ohio/Coffman) added five ground balls, and junior Chase Beach (Cincinnati, Ohio/Mariemont) and freshman Jonathan Lenhoff (Lake Oswego, Ore./Lake Oswego) chipped in with four apiece.

Offensively, Wittenberg was paced by sophomore Andrew Morrison (Columbus, Ohio/Hilliard Davidson) and Previte with three goals each. Sophomore Matt Hugdahl (Eden Prairie, Minn./Eden Prairie) added two goals, while sophomore Lewis Thompson (Sandy Hook, Conn./Newtown) dished out two assists.
