Wittenberg Tames Moravian In Spring Break Finale

CLEARWATER, Fla. - Only one thing is sure about the Wittenberg men's lacrosse team's matchup with Moravian: the Tigers left the field as victors by a wide margin Friday. With the final score at 15-3, the Tigers handled Moravian to improve to 3-2 on the season in the Spring Break finale.

Finales usually come with some amount of fanfair, but this one was welcomed with two days of hard rain in the central Florida area. The game, originally scheduled for 6:30 p.m., was moved up to 2:30 p.m. Friday to preempt the four hours of rain that were still to come down.

As a result, the normal comforts of a lacrosse game, such as an on-field scoreboard, were unavailable. High octane offense was present, however, led by senior attacker Ted Winders (Western Springs, Ill./Lyons Township) who put three balls into the net.

On the other side, sophomore goalie Spencer Baker (Worthington, Ohio/Thomas Worthington) combined his three quarters in goal with the one quarter of juniorMark DeOliveira (East Hanover, NJ/East Hanover) to keep Moravian at bay.

The Tigers return to the field on Saturday, March 20, for their 1 p.m. home opener versus St. Vincent.
