NASHVILLE, Tenn. — The Wittenberg Tigers finally got to play a game outdoors, and the change in atmosphere suited them as they recorded a 16-1 season-opening victory over Sewanee in a game played at Montgomery Bell Academy.

Last year, the Tigers opened the season with a 13-3 win over Sewanee. Wittenberg went on to a 7-6 overall record, while Sewanee went on to post a 4-10 mark.

The Tigers dominated the first half, holding a 28-8 advantage in shots. Winders finished with two goals and an assist, trailing only junior Matt Lord (Pickerington, Ohio/North), who contributed three goals and an assist, and sophomore Jim Ferris (Grand Rapids, Mich./East Grand Rapids), who chipped in with two goals and two assists, in total points.
