Tigers Light Up Scoreboard in Opening Win

NASHVILLE, Tenn. - The Wittenberg men's lacrosse team exploded out of the gate with a 13-3 season-opening win against Sewanee in a game played in Nashville, Tenn. Tiger sophomore Matt Lord (Pickerington, Ohio/North) was a one-man wrecking crew, scoring an astounding eight goals in the victory.

Not only did Lord's goal total eclipse his entire seasonal goal output from last spring (6), but it also placed him tied for third all-time in program history for goals in a game. It was the first time since 2006 when Cory Windle tallied an identical number.

Another multi-goal performance came from sophomore Mitch Cohagan (Pickerington, Ohio/North), whose two markers helped the Tigers run away from The University of the South. In net, Mark DeOliveira (East Hanover, NJ/East Hanover) recorded 12 saves to keep Sewanee at bay.

Sophomore Brady Christensen (Medina, Ohio/Medina) provided a pair of assists in the win, while sophomore Matt Snider (Cookeville, Tenn./Cookeville) added a goal and two assists in a return to his home state. The early-season victory prepares the Tigers for a return home to take on Mount St. Joseph on Wednesday, March 4 from Edwards Maurer Field.
