Springfield, Ohio — Ron Klawitter, Wittenberg University Class of 1973, will become the first Tiger men's lacrosse player to gain entry into the Ohio Lacrosse Foundation Hall of Fame when he is inducted at a dinner and ceremony at 6 p.m. Saturday, June 13, at the Fawcett Center at The Ohio State University.

Klawitter is one of five members of the class of 2009 to be inducted into the Ohio Lacrosse Foundation Hall of Fame, founded in 1994. Female and male high school All-America honorees will also be recognized during the event, which includes a reception and a formal dinner.

Just the second two-sport All-American in Wittenberg history, Klawitter was a standout in both football and lacrosse. As a football linebacker, he was a second-team Associated Press Little All-America and a first-team Lutheran All-America honoree as a senior on the 1972 squad. In addition, he earned the Hank Critchfield Award, presented annually to the most valuable defensive player in the Ohio Athletic Conference, and he was earned Most Valuable Player honors in the All-Ohio Shrine Bowl following the season.

In lacrosse, Klawitter was a standout defenseman who earned four varsity letters and was a captain and team MVP on the 1973 squad. Following that season, Klawitter earned All-America honors.

Tickets for the induction reception and dinner are available for $50 ($40 for high school students), and can be purchased by calling (614) 451-9717 or sending an e-mail to Paul Caldwell at pclax@prodigy.net. In addition, tickets are being sold at Midwest Lacrosse in the Olentangy Plaza. Checks can be mailed to Hall of Fame, 1306 Nantucket Ave., Columbus, OH 43235.
