Wittenberg Pulls Out 5-4 Win Over Eastern

CLEARWATER, Fla. - The Wittenberg Tigers rallied for a thrilling 5-4 season-opening victory over Eastern (Pa.) in their 2007-08 season opener.

Wittenberg, which had a game against Tri-State postponed last week due to inclement weather back on its home campus, dropped Eastern to 0-3 on the young season. The Tigers did it with a combination of outstanding goaltending and opportune offense.

Of note, two of the key contributors were freshmen as goalkeeper Mark DeOliveira (East Hanover, NJ/East Hanover) recorded 10 saves and attackman Mitch Cohagen (Pickerington, Ohio/North) scored the game-winner with just two minutes left in the game.

Senior attackman Brandon Hulett (Hilliard, Ohio/Davidson) got the Tigers on the board with a first-half goal, and he added a score in the second half as well. Sophomore Danny Johnson (Cincinnati, Ohio/Indian Hill) added his first goal in the Red & White, and sophomore Mike Reinberg (St. Louis, Mo./DeSmet Jesuit)rounded things out with his first goal of the season.

The Tigers put the wraps on the Spring Break trip with a Saturday evening contest against Sewanee.
