Wittenberg Falls To Whittier, 12-5

COLUMBUS, Ohio - The Wittenberg Tigers took a road trip of sorts, taking on the Whittier Poets on Sunday at Upper Arlington High School in Columbus, Ohio, the hometown of several Wittenberg players. Unfortunately, the Tigers struggled in their first game away from Edwards-Maurer Field since returning from Spring Break in Florida, dropping a 12-5 decision.

The Tigers lost their second straight game and fell to 3-4 overall on the 2006 season, their first under the direction of Head Coach George Harris.

Wittenberg fell behind 3-0 in the game's opening quarter and never recovered. Offensively, sophomore Brandon Hulett led the Tigers with three goals, while junior Travis Moore and junior Brandon Schwind, an Upper Arlington graduate, added one score each. Freshman Andrew Goldstein chipped in a pair of assists.

Defensively, the Tigers gave up their season-high in goals, despite 12 saves from sophomore Andy Shively, another Upper Arlington graduate. Senior Mike Morrell and junior Mark Morrell each picked up six ground balls to lead the Tigers in that department.
