Wittenberg Stopped Cold By Wooster

SPRINGFIELD, Ohio - The Wittenberg Tigers were in the path of a freight train on a frigid "spring" Saturday evening as the College of Wooster scored an 11-1 North Coast Athletic Conference victory.

The Tigers dropped to 3-5 on the season, including an 0-2 mark in the NCAC, while Wooster improved to 5-4 overall and 1-1 in the conference.

Wittenberg's lone goal was scored in the third quarter after Wooster dominated the first half to take an 8-0 lead. Junior Travis Moore sprawled out in front of the Wooster net to push a shot across the Scots' goal line in the third quarter. The Scots responded with three straight goals to close things out.

Wittenberg goaltender Andy Shively was credited with eight saves, seven of which came in the first quarter. He faced 29 Wooster shots, compared to 23 for Wittenberg. Wooster's goaltenders were forced into 13 saves as the Tigers managed few quality scoring opportunities thanks to tight defense by the Scots.
