OBERLIN, Ohio - It was a must-win situation in wintry weather conditions after a long road trip - a perfect scenario for a letdown. But the Wittenberg Tigers did the job Saturday, pulling out a 15-5 North Coast Athletic Conference victory at Oberlin.

The Tigers actually trailed in this game, 3-2, in the early going before getting things in gear. In the second quarter, Wittenberg outscored the host team 4-0. And after halftime, the Tigers' 6-3 lead expanded to 10-4 by the end of the third quarter and 15-5 at game's end.

Sophomore Matt Davis was the offensive star for the second straight game as he poured in a career-high five goals, just three days after scoring three against nationally ranked Ohio Wesleyan. Sophomore Adam Morrison added two goals and four assists to lead all scorers in total points. Sophomore Sammy Hong chipped in two goals and one assist, and junior Cory Windle, freshman Mike Coursault, sophomore Jay Shimko, senior Trevor Carlson, sophomore Cory Griffiths and junior Bryan Arnold rounded out the goal-scorers. Sophomore Brandon Schwind was credited with an assist to cap the Wittenberg scoring output.

Defensively, freshman Andy Shively was solid in his second start in goal, turning away six Oberlin shots. Wittenberg outshot the Yeomen decisively, holding a 35-16 advantage by game's end.
