Fourth-Ranked Tigers Place 5th at Parkside Invite

Columbus, Indiana – The Wittenberg University Men's Golf team, which is currently tied for fourth with Methodist in the Bushnell Golfweek Div. III Top-25, finished fifth out of 12 teams over the past two days of competition at the Parkside Spring Invitational, played at the par-72, 6,903-yard Otter Creek Golf Club in Indiana. 

Competing as the lone Div. III team in the Div. II-heavy field, the Tigers finished fifth overall in the team standings after posting a two-day score of 607 (305-302). Bellarmine brought home the team title at the event after carding a team score of 587 (295-292). 

All 11 Wittenberg men's golfers competed at the event, with five members playing as part of the team score and the other six competing as individuals in the 83-golfer field. 

Two of the 11 golfers finished inside the top-20 in the final individual standings, led by senior Isaac Hartley finishing as part of a five-way tie for 12th with a 36-hole score of 149. Hartley played a pair of consistent rounds, opening with a three-over 75 on Sunday and concluding with a two-over 74 on Monday. In addition to Hartley, junior Ryan Mallette also cracked the top-20 as part of a four-way tie for 17th with a two-day total of 150 (74-76). 

Wrapping up the team-scoring aspect of the tournament, senior Colin Laszlo finished as part of an eight-way tie for 21st with a 151 (76-75), senior Cooper Taylor tied for 29th with a 152 (78-74), sophomore Christopher Dunne tied for 43rd with a 154 (77-77) and junior Cameron Willis tied for 57th with a 158 (81-77). 

On the individual side of things, sophomore Daniel Castleberry and freshman Will Birkholz finished as part of a nine-way tie for 34th in the individual standings with 153 strokes each, followed by freshman Cameron Lloyd in a tie for 52nd with a 157, senior Chris Eigner in a tie for 64th with a 163 and junior Curtis Salmans in 79th with a 169. 

The nationally-ranked Tigers will now return to competition this weekend at the highly competitive Hershey Cup, played at the historic Hershey C.C. in central Pennsylvania.
