No. 5 Tigers Tie for 6th at Savannah Harbor Classic

Savannah, Georgia – Competing against several of the nation's top teams, the fifth-ranked Wittenberg University men's golf team finished in a tie for sixth out of 18 total teams at the Savannah Harbor Classic, played at the par-72, 7,084-yard Club at Savannah Harbor in Georgia.

The Tigers played consistent golf over the two days of competition, carding an opening round 302 on Monday, before closing out the 36-hole event on Tuesday with a 298 for a two-day score of 600. Wittenberg shared the sixth spot in the final team standings with No. 6 Guilford, while No. 2 Huntingdon brought home the team title with a score of 586 (296-290). 

Individually, three of Wittenberg's five players cracked the top-30 in the final standings, led by senior Colin Laszlo finishing as part of a three-way tie for fourth with a one-over par score of 145 (72-73). Over the course of the two-days, Laszlo carded four birdies and also notched an eagle on the par-4, 318-yard 14th hole in the second round. In addition, junior Ryan Mallette finished just outside the top-20 as part of a three-way tie for 21st with a 150 (74-76), while classmate Cameron Willis was among six golfers to finish in a tie for 27th with a two-day score of 152 (78-74). 

Finally, senior Cooper Taylor finished as part of a six-way tie for 44th with a 155 (78-77), and sophomore Christopher Dunne shared the 54th spot with two additional golfers after carding a 157 (82-75). 

While the Tigers will not return to tournament action until the end of the month, they will now close out their Spring Break trip with several practice rounds in and around the Hilton Head, South Carolina, vicinity.
