Tigers Win Strimer Invitational; Hartley Earns Medalist Honors

DELAWARE,Ohio—Wittenberg men's continued to impress this Spring, as the team won yet another tournament over the weekend. The Tigers won by 16 strokes at the Strimer Invitational at Oakhaven Golf Club in Delaware, Ohio. The Tigers carded a two-day total of 583, as host Ohio Wesleyan finished behind the Tigers in second with a 599, and Kenyon behind them at 600. In a field full of NCAC competition, the Tigers shined bright just a week before NCAC Championship play.

The course was particularly good to junior Isaac Hartley, who won his first tournament as a Tiger over the weekend. Hartley fired back to back rounds of 71 to finish even on the weekend, and one stroke ahead of Christopher Dunne who came in second place. Hartley and Dunne were tied after day one, but Hartley managed to edge out his teammate by a stroke in the final round of play on Sunday.

"What a solid weekend across the board. Every one of our guys played well. I'm really happy for each of them especially Isaac getting the win. This was a great week to build into conference next weekend and we are looking forward to it," said Coach Leotta.

11 of the Tigers 12 players finished in the top-20 on Sunday, as Ryan Mallette (+3), Colin Laszlo (+5), Cooper Taylor (+6)  followed up Hartley and Dunne with a fourth, fifth and seventh place finish.

Rounding out the top-ten for Wittenberg was Chris Eigner (+7), and Maxim Boone (+8) & Curtis Salmans (+8) who finished T9.

Wittenberg is back in action on April 27 and 28 at the 2018 NCAC Championships.
