MANSFIELD, Ohio—After taking a seven-stroke lead into the clubhouse on Sunday, the Tigers ran away with the NCAC Fall Preview on Monday, winning the tournament by 13 strokes. As a team, the Tigers carded rounds of 297-299, for a grand score of 596 (+20). Wittenberg finished ahead of Kenyon College (+33) and Ohio Wesleyan (+44).
Individually, Isaac Hartley paced the Tigers with a round-one 72, heading into the clubhouse as the leader. Day two saw Hartley fire a 75, as the junior finished +3 and in second-place for the tournament as Jack Funderburg of OWU took home medalist honors with a round-two 71.
Cooper Taylor and Cameron Willis tried their best to best one-another on Sunday and Monday, but both Tigers finished T4 as Taylor fired rounds of 74-75, and Willis rounds of 75-74 (+5).
Colin Laszlo also cracked the top-ten for the Tigers, as the Hawaii native carded rounds of 76-75 for a +7 151. Ryan Mallette finished just behind Laszlo a +8 after firing off two-rounds of 76.
Christopher Dunne rounded out the tournament for the Tigers, playing as an individual, and taking home an 11th place finish after finishing the tournament +9. Dunne fired a day-one 74, followed by a 79.
The defending champions of NCAA Division III took home two team tournament-wins in the fall, as the Tigers also claimed the Allegheny Fall Invitational back in September. The Tigers also held their own at the NCAA Men's Division III Preview in North Carolina, before coming back to Ohio measure themselves against NCAC foes.
Wittenberg concludes the fall with a win, while Tiger fans can check-back later for the release of the official Spring schedule.
CEDARVILLE INVITATIONAL
Wittenberg "B" competed at the Cedarville invitational on Saturday and Sunday, with junior Chris Eigner claiming medalist honors for the Tigers. The Indiana native fired rounds of 74 and 77 to finish in first place at +5.
Right behind Eigner was Brennan Whitis, who claimed second place after rounds of 73-79 (+8).
As a team, the Tigers finished atop the leaderboard, ten strokes ahead of Division II Ohio Dominican. Wittenberg carded rounds of 301-315 to finish +40 as a team at 616.
