Tigers Win Guy and Jeanne Kuhn Memorial Invitational

MEADVILLE, Pa.—Wittenberg men's golf pulled out their first tournament win of the year on Monday afternoon. The Tigers took the team title by one stroke over Rensselear Polytechnical Institute, and led wire-to-wire at the Guy and Jeanne Kuhn Memorial Invitational. Hosted by NCAC foe Allegheny, the Tigers showed well against the likes of Wooster, Allegheny and Hiram. As a team, the Tigers carded a two-day score of 605 (+29), after firing an open round of 299, the lowest carded team score of the day.

Day two brought much of the same for Wittenberg, as the Tigers fended off a late charge by RPI, finishing the tournament atop the leaderboard. While the Tigers were led on day one by Colin Laszlo, Wittenberg was aided with a strong day two by freshman Daniel Castleberry.

Laszlo ended round one with the individual lead, as the Hawaii native finished with a two under 70 in the opening round, while carding a 74 on day two. Castleberry fired off rounds of back to back 72 to finish even for the weekend, as he and Laszlo tied for second place individually.

Cooper Taylor finished three over for the Tigers, good enough for fourth place, after carding rounds of 75 and 72. Isaac Hartley finished 12th overall for the Tigers, finishing seven over, and Chris Eigner finished 18th overall, +10, to round out the Tiger's top twenty finishes.

Wittenberg, led by interim coach Andy Bonar, now shift their gears to the NCAA Men's Division III Preview on September 24 and 25. The Tigers will travel to Greensboro, North Carolina to compete in the two-day tournament at the Grandover Resort.
