COLUMBUS, Ohio - The Wittenberg Tigers continued to excel while playing one of the most challenging fall schedules possible, finishing third in the loaded Gordin Collegiate Classic.

Wittenberg was one of three teams to finish below par in the three-round, two-day event at Columbus Country Club, which was playing 7,010 yards and par-72. Ninth-ranked Berry scorched the course in the third and final round to pull away for the victory, posting a nine-under-par round of 279 en route to a total of 854, which was 10 strokes better than par.

Defending national champion and second-ranked Methodist finished second in the 12-team field, posting a total score of 862, which was two-under-par. Wittenberg rounded out the top three with a total of one-under-par 863, which beat 15th-ranked Rhodes by one stroke.

Individually, a trio of Tigers turned in top-20 finishes, led by junior Mark David Wright (Westerville, Ohio/Tree of Life) with a 6-under-par total of 210. He sandwiched rounds of three-under-par 69 around an even-par second round. The 69s were both Wright's collegiate best.

Senior Sam Geise (Springboro, Ohio/Springboro) was next for Wittenberg in 14th place with a three-round total of 217. Junior Sam Stilwell (Sterling, Va./Dominion) checked in at 19th with a score of 218.

Junior Garrett Brickley (Pickerington, Ohio/North) finished 29th with a score of 222, and freshman Darnell Ellis (Reynoldsburg, Ohio/Reynoldsburg) rounded things out with a total score of 231 to finish 49th.

The Tigers have two more tournaments remaining on the fall 2015 schedule, starting with the North Coast Athletic Conference (NCAC) Championship Preview at Wooster Country Club Oct. 10-11.
