WOOSTER, Ohio - The Wittenberg Tigers completed their final tune-up for the 2014-15 postseason with a resounding victory at Wooster's Nye Intercollegiate.

The win was Wittenberg's fifth of the 2014-15 season, and it came in a tournament that featured four other North Coast Athletic Conference (NCAC) teams that will attempt to unseat the Tigers as league champs over the next two weekends. Wittenberg heads into the two-week, four-round NCAC Championship Series as the five-time defending champion.

Wittenberg carded the best round both days at Wooster Country Club, covering the par-72, 6,545-yard course in four-man scores of 298 and 297. The Tigers' total of 19-over-par 595 ended up 16 strokes clear of second-place DePauw.

Senior John Chaney (Gates Mills, Ohio/Gilmour Academy) led the way for Wittenberg, which took four of the top five spots in the final standings and nine of the top 10. Chaney carded back-to-back rounds of 73 for a total of two-over-par 146, just one stroke off the pace set by Drake Dunaway of DePauw.

Sophomore Garrett Brickley (Pickerington, Ohio/North) was next for Wittenberg with a two-day score of 148 to place fourth, followed closely by junior Sam Geise (Springboro, Ohio/Springboro) in fifth with a 150 and senior Alex Andrews (Kirtland, Ohio/Gilmour Academy) in sixth with a 151. Sophomore Sam Stilwell (Sterling, Va./Dominion) rounded out the Tigers' top five with a 10th-place finish after finishing with a score of 154.

Junior JP Holliday (Calgary, Alberta/Central Memorial) also was entered in the 59-player field. He finished 41st with a total of 165.

The NCAC Championship Series starts with two rounds hosted by Kenyon at Apple Valley Golf Course in Howard, Ohio, April 25-26. The event concludes the following weekend with rounds at Springfield Country Club hosted by Wittenberg on May 2-3.
