DANVILLE, Ind. - The Wittenberg men's golf team took care of business over the first two days of the 2014 North Coast Athletic Conference (NCAC) Championship Series, taking a 15-stroke victory in the NCAC Championship Series #1 hosted by DePauw.

The tournament title was Wittenberg's sixth in its last seven starts. More importantly, the fifth-ranked Tigers, the pre-tournament favorite to claim a fifth straight league title, will take a commanding lead over the rest of the field into the third and fourth rounds of the NCAC Championship Series #2, hosted by Wabash next weekend.

The Tigers posted the top team score on each day of the event, which took place at Twin Bridges Golf Club. Wittenberg looped the par-72, 7,036-yard course with scores of 300 and 307 for a total of 607, 15 strokes better than Allegheny and 16 ahead of Wabash.

Individually, senior Ben Hogenkamp (Minster, Ohio/Minster) led the way for Wittenberg with a two-day total of 150, good for a tie for second place. Close behind was senior David Wetterich (Cincinnati, Ohio/LaSalle), who finished fifth with a 151.

Also finishing in the top 10 were juniors Jared Wissinger (Hilliard, Ohio/Davidson) and John Chaney (Shaker Heights, Ohio/Gilmour Academy). Wissinger placed sixth with a 152 and Chaney took eighth with a 154. Rounding things out was junior Alex Andrews (Kirtland, Ohio/Gilmour Academy), who stands 18th with a 160.
