Tigers Beat Some Of Nation's Top Teams At Rhodes Fall Classic

TUNICA, Miss. - The Wittenberg Tigers continued the challenging fall portion of the 2013-14 season with a second-place finish in the 20-team Rhodes College Fall Classic.

The Tigers finished just three strokes behind the host team, which turned in scores of 292 and 295 on the par-72, 7,125-yard course at Tunica National Golf Resort. Wittenberg posted scores of 293 and 297 to finish at 590, a mere one stroke ahead of eighth-ranked Texas-Tyler and two strokes ahead of preseason No. 1 ranked Transylvania and Berry College.

A total of five nationally ranked teams, in addition to three teams listed among "Others Receiving Votes" in the preseason national poll.

A pair of Tigers posted top 10 finishes in the competition to lead the Tigers. Senior Ben Hogenkamp (Minster, Ohio/Minster) continued his steady play, finishing with a two-day total of 145. That was matched by junior Jared Wissinger (Hilliard, Ohio/Davidson) as both players finished in a tie for sixth place.

Senior David Wetterich (Cincinnati, Ohio/LaSalle) and junior Alex Andrews (Kirtland, Ohio/Gilmour Academy) finished in a tie for 26th with matching scores of 150. Senior Jack Uecker (Akron, Ohio/St. Vincent-St. Mary) rounded out the Tigers in the field as he placed 62nd with a score of 156.

A fall schedule that features five tournaments in five different states continues with the NCAA Championship Preview Invitational at the Grandover Resort & Conference Center in Greensboro, NC, Sept. 22-23.
