Springfield, Ohio — After leading the Wittenberg Tigers to their second straight North Coast Athletic Conference (NCAC) championship and NCAA Division III Tournament appearance, Craig Osterbrock, class of 2013 from Wilmington, Ohio, has earned PING All-Great Lakes Region honors from the Golf Coaches Association of America.
Osterbrock, who earned first-team All-North Coast Athletic Conference (NCAC), first-team all-region and third-team All-America honors in his inaugural collegiate campaign, capped his 2010-11 regular season with a seven-stroke win at the Hiram Invitational, which served as the second round of the 2011 NCAC Championship Series. That win earned Osterbrock a tie for first place in the overall competition, and he went on to win a one-hole playoff to earn the NCAC's Bob Nye Award as the conference championship medalist.
The team's victory in the NCAC Championship Series earned the Tigers their 17th trip to the NCAA Division III Tournament (18th overall — including a 1974 berth in the NCAA College Division Tournament). The Tigers finished 21st in the national competition at the Grandover Resort in Greensboro, NC, missing the 15-team cut by six strokes after yesterday's second round.
After finishing 17th to earn All-America honors a year ago, Osterbrock finished 156th in the 2011 NCAA Division III Tournament. He led the Tigers for a second straight year in stroke average, finishing the 2010-11 campaign with a mark of 74.5. His average score of 74.22 ranked him 22nd in the nation prior to the NCAA Division III Tournament.
