Springfield, Ohio — Capping a season in which he helped the Wittenberg men's golf team to heights it hadn't seen in nearly 20 years, Ricky Boerner, class of 2012 from Hilliard, Ohio, recently earned All-Great Lakes Region honors.

Boerner was the top finisher on a Tiger team that placed second in the North Coast Athletic Conference (NCAC), the program's best finish since winning its lone title in 1992. He and Ben Smith, class of 2012 from North Bend, Ohio, earned first-team All-NCAC honors after shooting 677 and 696, respectively, over the nine rounds of the 2008-09 NCAC Championship Series.

Boerner finished the season with a team-best scoring average of 76.3, playing a team-high 26 rounds. His best two-round total was a 142 at the Denison Fall Classic, ironically his first collegiate tournament. He placed third in that competition, the same place he finished in the NCAC Championship Series, Wittenberg's best individual conference finish since Kurt Bitter captured the 2000 title.
