Tiger Teams Take Third, Fourth In Wittenberg Fall Invitational

SPRINGFIELD, Ohio - The Wittenberg Tiger men's golf team put the finishing touches on a tremendous fall season with a third-place finish in the Wittenberg Fall Invitational, a 36-hole competition that took place at Windy Knoll Golf Club.

The 6,834-yard course was a tremendous challenge on this day, as the warm Indian Summer breezes and bright sunlight helped to firm up already hardened greens. Still, the Tigers posted tremendous scores, as all 12 players on the course posted scores of 90 or better in each round.

The Tiger A team captured third place with a 603, 15 strokes behind Centre's A team and just five behind Cedarville for runner-up honors. The leader in the clubhouse was freshman Jordan Millice (Cable, Ohio/Triad) with a 144, including a collegiate-best 69 on his second round. Millice finished fourth to earn all-tournament team honors.

He was followed on the A team by freshman Ben Smith (North Bend, Ohio/Elder) and senior Dan Buchan (Dublin, Ohio/Worthington Christian) with matching 152s, good for 15th place. Sophomore Duncan Littlefield (New Canaan, Conn./New Canaan) added a 155 for 22nd and freshman Ricky Boerner (Hilliard, Ohio/Watterson) rounded things out with a 163 for 49th.

The Tigers B team finished in a three-way tie for fourth place with perennial NCAA Division III powerhouse Otterbein and NAIA scholarship program Ohio Dominican, all with scores of 610. Senior Chad Summe (Cincinnati, Ohio/LaSalle) led the way with a 147, good for seventh place, followed by senior Garrett Smith (Powell, Ohio/Worthington Christian) with a 149 for 10th, sophomore Patrick Beausejour (Cincinnati, Ohio/St. Xavier) with a 154 for 19th, senior Jeff Hochstetler (Plain City, Ohio/Jonathan Alder) with a 160 for 42nd and junior Steve Nevius (Springfield, Ohio/Shawnee) with a 163 for 49th.

With the cancellation of Saturday's tournament at Ohio Northern, the Wittenberg Fall Invitational puts a cap on the 2008 fall season for the Tigers. The spring schedule will be announced soon.
