Tigers Compete Well At Northern Kentucky

FALMOUTH, Ky. - For the second week in a row, the Wittenberg Tigers stepped up the competition level and responded well, this time finishing eighth in a 13-team field that included a host of scholarship programs.

The Tigers were very consistent, carding a collective 303 on Day 1 and a 304 on Day 2 to finish with a 607. That put Wittenberg 35 strokes behind NCAA Division I Indianapolis, which cleared the rest of the field by 10 strokes. The Tigers tied NCAA Division II Findlay for eighth place, two strokes behind NCAA Division II Ashland.

Individually, the Tigers were paced for a second straight week by senior Garrett Smith (Powell, Ohio/Worthington Christian) with a 75-74 for a 149. He was one of 22 golfers to break 150, and he wound up eight strokes off the lead.

Freshman Jordan Millice (Cable, Ohio/Triad) added a 152 with a pair of rounds in the 70s, followed closely by seniors Chad Summe (Cincinnati, Ohio/LaSalle) and Dan Buchan (Dublin, Ohio/Worthington Christian) with matching 153s, achieved with back-to-back sub-80 rounds. Rounding things out, sophomore Patrick Beausejour (Cincinnati, Ohio/St. Xavier) added a 158 and freshman Ricky Boerner (Hilliard, Ohio/Watterson) posted a 162.

The Tigers are off for a week before returning to action against a field of primarily NCAA Division III programs at Denison on April 4-5.
