Tigers Take Down Little Giants In Overtime

Springfield, OH – The Wittenberg Tiger Men's Basketball team earned their third consecutive win with a hard-fought, 58-56, overtime win over the Little Giants from Wabash College. The two sides matched each other point for point, taking a 23-23 tie into the half. The Tigers and Little Giants scored 28 points apiece in the second half, shooting an identical 40 percent from the floor. Wittenberg was able to outscore the Little Giants in the overtime period, 7-5, sealing the victory.

Three different Tigers found their way into scoring double figures.

For the sixth consecutive game, Trey Killens led the Tiger scoring effort, with a team high 22 points. Killens knocked down 8 of 19 from the floor, converting on 6 of 6 from the charity stripe, adding five rebounds with two assists and a steal to his credit.

Jeff Queen tallied 13 points, knocking down 3 of 4 from beyond the arc, shooting 50 percent from the floor on the night. Queen added two rebounds and two blocked shots, including one pivotal stop down the stretch to in overtime.

Daniel Asher posted 10 points with five rebounds. Asher knocked down 3 of 6 from the floor, including all four attempts from the foul line. Levi Boettcher and Eddie Brown cleaned up on the glass, leading the rebounding effort. Boettcher tallied a team-high 10 rebounds. Brown accounted for six boards.

Wittenberg will return to action on Saturday, February 18, hosting Oberlin College from Pam Evans Smith Arena. Before the game, the Tiger men's basketball program will celebrate Senior Day for the Class of 2023.
