Tigers Fall In Overtime Battle Against Olivet

Nashville, TN – The Wittenberg Tiger Men's Basketball team suffered an overtime loss to the Comets from Olivet College, 83-80, in their final game of 2022. The two sides were evenly matched throughout the duration, as Olivet maintained a 31-30 advantage heading into the break at the half. Wittenberg was able to outscore Olivet down the stretch, 42-41, forcing the five-minute overtime at 72-72.

Jerry Saunders Jr. finished the night with a team-high 20 points, before using his fifth foul. Saunders Jr. knocked down 7 of 12 from the floor, including 3 of 5 from beyond the arc. Supporting the Tiger offense off the bench, Cameron Harrison tallied 14 points, while grabbing two offensive rebounds and coming up with a steal. Trey Killens served up a team-high five assists, scoring 12 points and tracking down eight rebounds. Levi Boettcher pulled in a team-high nine rebounds, posting eight points for the Tigers.

Wittenberg converted on 36 percent of their field goal attempts on the night, knocking down 9 of 33 from beyond the arc and 11 of 15 from the free throw line. The Tigers capitalized off of the Olivet turnovers with 20 points.

Wittenberg will return to action in the new year, returning to North Coast Athletic Conference action, traveling to Denison University on Wednesday, January 4th. Tipoff against the Big Red is set for 7:00 PM.
