Men's Basketball Drops Non-Conference Battle Against Hope

Springfield, OH – The Wittenberg Tiger Men's Basketball team suffered a heartbreaking, 76-65, loss to the Dutchmen from Hope College on Friday night. Wittenberg jumped out to an early lead, holding a 24-12 advantage over Hope midway through the first half. Hope responded with a 10-point scoring run through the final minutes of the half, as the two sides traded scores the Dutchmen took a 31-29 lead into the break at the half.

The Tigers were led by Jerry Saunders Jr. with 19 points on the night and two steals. Wittenberg shot nearly 46 percent from the floor, converting on 26 of 57 from the floor. Trey Killens added 16 points, serving up three assists and grabbing three rebounds. Killens knocked down 7 of 10 attempts from the field, knocking down a pair of free throws after the Hope technical foul.

Wittenberg will get set to host their annual Holiday Classic on Monday and Tuesday, December 19-20. The Tigers will take on Alma College on Monday at 7:00 p.m., returning to the hardwood to host Adrian at 7:00 p.m. for the final day of action.
