Men's Basketball Defeats DePauw For First NCAC Win

Springfield, OH – The Wittenberg University Men's Basketball team picked up their first North Coast Athletic Conference win of the 2022-23 season, defeating the Tigers from DePauw University, 60-50. Holding a narrow, 28-27 advantage at the break. The Wittenberg defense dominated through the final 20 minutes of action, holding DePauw to shooting just 27 percent from the field in the second half.

Leading the scoring effort for the home Tigers, Brice Hill posted 12 points, knocking down 5 of 10 from the floor. Josh Tolliver added 11 points, reeling in five rebounds and serving up one assist on the night. Levi Boettcher cleaned up on the glass, pulling down a team-high 11 rebounds to go along with his one assist and one steal.

Wittenberg controlled the inside game outscoring DePauw in the paint 32-24. The two sides battled back and forth throughout the early going with scoreboard flashing four ties and eight lead changes. Wittenberg would extend their lead out to as many as 13 points midway through the second half. Wittenberg would go on to outscore DePauw 32-23 through the final 20 minutes.

Wittenberg will return to action on Saturday, December 10, traveling to Ohio Wesleyan University to take on the Battling Bishops. Tipoff is set for 3:00 pm.
