Tigers Drop NCAC Battle Against Wabash

Springfield, OH – The Wittenberg Tiger men's basketball welcomed the Wabash Little Giants to Pam Evans Smith Arena on Wednesday evening for a midweek NCAC showdown. The Tigers fell 87-69, as the Little Giants outscored Wittenberg 48-35 in the second half. Wittenberg was led by  senior Landon Martin, coming off the bench for the Red and White providing 18 points for the Tiger offense and adding five rebounds. Levi Boettcher added nine points, going a perfect 4 of 4 from the free throw line with eight rebounds and two assists.

After the first half of action, the Tigers were led by Martin with 10 points, knocking down 4 of his first 7 look from the floor. Wittenberg battled back and forth with the Little Giants finding their first lead at 14-13, as Martin sliced through the Wabash defense for the layup. The Tigers limited their mistakes in the first half with just two turnovers. Wabash came out in the second half shooting 52 percent from the floor. Wittenberg got a spark late from Trey Killens playing relentless defense, adding seven points down the stretch.

NCAC LEADERS

Boettcher has worked his way into the Top 20 in the NCAC in rebounds, averaging 5.5 per contest. Shooting just over 51 percent in 10 games this season, Tolliver has secured his spot in the Top 10 in the NCAC for field goals. Young holds the top three-point shooting spot in the league, converting on nearly 49 percent from beyond the arc. Martin and Young both hold a top spot for field-goal percentage, Martin in the second spot and Young at number five.

Wittenberg will return to action on Saturday, January 29 hitting the road, traveling to Oberlin College to take on the Yeomen. Tip-off is set for 3:00 PM
