Tigers Fall To Wabash From The Road

Crawfordsville, IN – The Wittenberg Men's Basketball team traveled to Wabash College on Saturday afternoon, falling to the Little Giants 101-73. Putting together a 52 percent shooting average from the floor, hitting on 30 of 57 attempts, the Tigers were unable to slow down a Wabash homecourt offense that saw the Little Giants convert on nearly 64 percent of their shots from the field. Wittenberg was led by seniors Landon Martin and James Johnson putting up double-figures in their offensive effort on the night. Martin led the scoring charge with 21 points, converting on 9 of 10 from the floor, hitting both shots from deep range. Johnson added 16 points for the Red and White, burying 4 of 5 shots from beyond the arc.

Wittenberg put together a 51 percent shooting marker through the first half of action, trailing Wabash 42-38 at the half. The Tigers cut into the early Wabash lead, putting together a seven-point scoring run through the first six minutes. Allowing just one Little Giant basket through the final three and a half minutes, Wittenberg ignited a run from Martin over the final five minutes of the half, as the senior posted 9 of his 12 first half points. The Tigers limited their mistakes on the day with only six turnovers in the second half, compared to the Little Giants' 13. Continuing to shoot the ball well in the second half, unloading 14 of 26 from the field. Wabash had the homecourt feel, converting on 19 of 30 attempts in the second half.

NCAC LEADERS

Martin has moved into the top five scorers in the conference, averaging 17.7 points per game. The Tigers have two players in the top five for field goal percentage, represented by Ridge Young and Levi Boettcher. Loading up the top 5 in three-point shooting percentage, Young, Boettcher and Johnson all rank amongst the NCAC's best sharpshooters.
