No. 3 Tigers Capture Eighth Straight Win Against Hanover

Springfield, OH- The No. 3 Wittenberg was back at Pam Evans Smith Arena for a non-conference match-up against the Hanover Panthers. After today's 69-52 win over the Panthers, the Tigers improve their winning streak to eight games this season.

Wittenberg got started with Jordan Pumroy on the line, putting up both free throws. The men controlled the ball for the first eight minutes of the game, only allowing five points in the time that Hanover held possession. The Tigers extended their lead by six around the ten-minute mark and ended the first half up by nine with a score of 31-22. Connor Seipel led Wittenberg in points for the first half with seven and James Johnson was right behind Seipel with six points and six rebounds.

Jake Bertemes got things started in the second half but Hanover was able to answer quickly. After a Hanover timeout Johnson made two back to back three point shots and a jump shot to push the momentum in Wittenberg's direction forcing another Hanover timeout. Coming back out, Landon Martin went on a six point streak for the Tigers. Landon Martin stepped up for the Tigers in the second half to lead with nine points and three rebounds. Johnson was right there with Martin, putting up eight points and three rebounds.

The Tigers ended with a FG% of 41.1%, 37.5% in 3PT%, and 90.9% on free throws. The team led in field goal percentage, three point percentage, free throw percentage, rebounds, assists and points off of turnovers.

Key Players: James Johnson led the Tigers in points and rebounds, putting up fourteen points and picking up nine rebounds. Jake Bertemes was right behind Johnson with elven points and helped out with five assists for Wittenberg, leading the team in today's game.

Up Next: The Tigers will be back on Sunday, December 29th for the 2019 Kiwanis Holiday Classic. They will face off against Elmira at 7 PM.
