No. 11 Tigers Take Down Terriers In OT

Springfield, Ohio – The No. 11 Wittenberg men's basketball team fended off the Terriers of Hiram College for the 84-75 overtime win on Saturday afternoon. As the Tigers finished with four in double figures, recording a 48 percent clip from the field on the evening, Connor Seipel posted his eighth double-double, with a season-high 29 points, while finishing just rebounds shy of his season high with 14. The Tigers got back to their winning ways, moving to 11-2 and 5-1 in NCAC action.

Game Breakdown

After an early back and forth during which the Tigers struggled to find their advantage, the Terriers took a 37-33 lead into the break. Wittenberg found their first lead with just under nine minutes remaining in the game, after Jacob Bertemes broke through the Terrier defense, as Landon Martin converted on a pair of free throws on the following possession. The two sides battled trade baskets going down the stretch, including a late three-point shot by James Johnson to tie things at 68-68. The Tigers opened up the overtime period on a quick score by Connor Seipel, followed by six straight Wittenberg points scored by Mitchell Balser. Wittenberg went on to outscore Hiram 16-7 in overtime to seal the win.

Who Stood Out

Bertemes finished with 19 points, six rebounds, two steals, along with an assist and block. Balser and Johnson finished with 11 points and six rebounds each. Balser added two assists and one steal to his total. Levi Boettcher provided five points off the bench and Martin hauled in five rebounds to go along with two assists and a steal.
