Tigers Fall at Buzzer to Hiram 60-58

HIRAM, Ohio—Wittenberg men's basketball led by 14 at the break on Saturday against the Terriers of Hiram. Cody Phillippi tallied 11 points in the first half to pace the Tigers, but the tune changed in the second half for the red and white. Wittenberg continued to execute on offense, but Hiram matched whatever the Tigers were able to do offensively, capitalizing on empty trips for the Tigers down the floor, as the Terriers found themselves right back in the contest with five minutes to play. With a chance to win the game as time expired, Wittenberg missed a well contested layup at the rim, as the Terrier outlet pass found an open player all alone, kissing a layup off the glass as time expired to win 60-58 in the NCAC game. Wittenberg moves to 9-4 overall with a 3-3 mark in NCAC play with the buzzer-beater loss.
