Tigers Strike on the Road Against Denison

GRANVILLE, Ohio– Wittenberg earned a big bounce back win on the road as they defeated the Denison Big Red 75-68. The Tigers were off and running from the opening tip, having one of their best shooting days of the season, finishing with three players scoring in double-figures

GAME BREAKDOWN

  • The Tiger offense started off fast, with a 5-2 run to start the first-half, as Wittenberg was on the board first from a Shane Edwards (Perrysburg, Ohio/ Perrysburg) jumper.
  • Senior Jaelin Williams (Springfield, Ohio/ Shawnee) scored 13 of his 22 points in the first half, as the Tigers took a 41-36 lead into the break.
  • Wittenberg obtained their largest lead in the second half, which put them up 15.
  • The Tigers saw great distribution from senior Cody Phillippi (Xenia, Ohio/ Xenia) adding five assists on the day, along with Edwards and Chad Roy (Toledo, Ohio / Holland Springfield) distributing four of their own.
  • Edwards and Roy also finished in double figures, as Edwards adds 11 points and Roy adds 14 points of his own going six of eight from the field.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS

  • The Tigers shot 55% from the field. This is the second best day from the field they have had since the Millikin game on Nov. 28.
  • Wittenberg capitalized off Denison turnovers, outscoring the Big Red 13-8.

KEY STATS

  • The Tigers led from the tip and did not let go of the lead throughout the game.
  •  Wittenberg outscored Denison in the paint 42-34.

FROM THE BENCH

  • "I'm really proud of our effort. Our players rebounded from a tough home loss. A lot of teams are going to lose over here (Livingston Gymnasium)," said Head Coach Bill Brown.

  • Wittenberg will resume play on the road against Heidelberg on Tuesday, Dec. 22 at 7:30 p.m.
