Quakers Rally Past Waynesburg For Tournament Title

SPRINGFIELD, Ohio - The Wilmington Quakers held the Waynesburg Yellow Jackets to just 33 percent shooting in the second half to secure a hard-fought 72-69 victory in the championship game of the 2014 Charles B. Zimmerman Memorial Classic, hosted by Wittenberg University.

The Quakers improved to 4-7 on the season after beating Alma and Waynesburg on back-to-back nights. Waynesburg, which defeated host Wittenberg in the opening round, dropped to 5-6 on the 2014-15 campaign.

The second half was a see-saw affair, with Wilmington finally pulling ahead in the waning seconds on a jumper by Dwight Johnson with 1:24 remaining, and three points from Jonathan Bibbs in the final 48 seconds.

Leading by three points, Wilmington's final defensive stand was inspired as Waynesburg attempted four three-pointers over the final 13 seconds.
