Springfield, Ohio – Following a breakout 2012-13 season, junior Wittenberg University men's basketball standout Scott Masin (New Carlisle, Ohio/Bethel) has earned third-team All-Great Lakes Region honors from d3hoops.com.

The all-region award is the first of Masin's collegiate career, and it comes on the heels of his first all-conference award. Masin was chosen as a first-team All-North Coast Athletic Conference (NCAC) honoree last month.

Masin led Wittenberg in numerous categories in 2012-13, including points at 15.9 per game and rebounds at 9.2 per game. Those totals were good for fifth and third, respectively, in the NCAC, as Masin piled up 14 double-doubles on the season. A starter in all 27 games, Masin also led the team in blocked shots with 16 and field goal percentage at .564.

A biology major, Masin is active around campus and in the Springfield community. He has served as a Peer Helper and an Orientation Assistant during New Student Days, and he is active with Athletes for Christ. In addition, Masin has contributed more than 30 hours of community service to the Springfield chapter of Habitat for Humanity.

The Tigers finished the 2012-13 season with records of 17-10 overall and 9-7 in the NCAC, good for a three-way tie for third place in the regular season standings. After beating DePauw in the NCAC Tournament quarterfinals, Wittenberg's campaign ended with a loss to nationally ranked Wooster in the tourney semifinals.
