McKee, Tigers Deadly From Long Range Over Oberlin

SPRINGFIELD, Ohio - The Wittenberg men's basketball team concluded a good day for Tiger hoops by winning the back end of a men's and women's doubleheader at Pam Evans Smith Arena, taking an 82-56 win over Oberlin Saturday.

The victory improves the Tigers to 11-2 overall and pushes their winning streak to six games, while in North Coast Athletic Conference (NCAC) action they moved to 3-1, which as of this writing puts them into a third-place tie with Allegheny, behind unbeatens Wooster (4-0) and Denison (3-0).

The buckets came in droves as the Tigers unleashed 51.7-percent shooting from the field, including 61.5-percent (16-of-25) in the second half. Wittenberg hit 8-of-10 three-pointers in the second period and 16-of-25 throughout the game to put away the Yeomen, who shot 41.5-percent from the floor and 27.3-percent from long range.

Wittenberg also built a dominant 34-21 rebounding advantage throughout the game, allowing a 23-8 edge in second-chance points. The Tigers' robust bench contributed 36 points to the win.

Sophomore wing Josh McKee (Springfield, Ohio/Tecumseh) provided nearly a third of the team's three-point goals to lead with 15 points on 5-of-5 shooting from outside and 5-of-6 overall. Senior wing Gregg Hill (Farmington Hills, Mich./Redford Union) chipped in 10 points, while senior post Mark Snyder (Celina, Ohio/Parkway) led with eight rebounds.

Senior point guard David Nowicki (Carmel, Ind./Westfield) continued to improve his assist/turnover ratio with seven helpers and no turnovers, bringing him to 60 assists and 17 turnovers on the season. His 3.53 assist-to-turnover ratio leads the conference by a wide margin, and just past halfway through the season, he is just seven assists short of surpassing his career high of 67, set last year.

Junior guard Chris Sullivan (Columbus, Ohio/Upper Arlington) finished behind Hill with nine points, while Nowicki and Snyder each contributed eight points.

The Tigers hit the road again with an NCAC tilt at Denison on Wednesday, Jan. 13, beginning at 7:30 p.m.
