SPRINGFIELD, Ohio - Wittenberg University Men's Basketball Head Coach Bill Brown reached another milestone with Saturday's 91-49 victory over the visiting Hiram College Terriers. Now in his 17th season as a head coach and his 11th directing his alma mater's men's basketball program, Brown earned his 300th career victory.

At the start of the 2003-04 season, just 52 active NCAA Division III men's basketball coaches had reached the 300-win plateau. Brown's career record is now 300-159 in 17 seasons, including 11 at Wittenberg, five at Kenyon and one at Wooster. His record at Wittenberg is a sparkling 240-60, including this season's 14-3 mark. The win also moved the Tigers as a team to 8-0 in the North Coast Athletic Conference, good for sole possession of first place. It was Wittenberg's 10th straight win.

Brown stands No. 2 in Wittenberg history in total wins with 240, trailing only Larry Hunter, who amassed 305 in 13 seasons between 1977 and 1989. Brown's winning percentage at Wittenberg of .800 is equaled by just three coaches with four of more seasons at the helm - Hunter, Dan Hipsher (now head coach at Akron University) and Ray Mears (who left Wittenberg in 1962 after six seasons to take the top spot at the University of Tennessee).

Wittenberg is back in action Wednesday at Earlham College. This season, the Tigers are seeking their sixth NCAC regular season championship, their third NCAC Tournament title and their seventh NCAA Division III Tournament berth under Brown's direction.
