Tigers Wallop Hiram For 20th Win Of Season, Brown's 200th As Head Coach

SPRINGFIELD, Ohio - The Wittenberg Tigers broke a 2-2 tie early in the game with 9-0 run. Ballgame.

From that point Wittenberg was dominant, winning for the 42nd time in 44 meetings with Hiram. The Tigers claimed a comfortable 103-60 win over the Terriers on Senior Night at the HPER Center before 1120 noisy fans, in the process breaking the school record for three-pointers in a game with 20 and handing Head Coach Bill Brown his 200th career victory.

The Tigers sprinted out to a 55-23 halftime lead and coasted from that point. All 14 players who saw action in the game scored at least two points and five players hit for double figures. Leading the way was sophomore guard Rod Emmons with 13 points, senior guard Greg Rustad and freshman forward Andy Bucheit each had 12 points, and sophomore guard Mark Borland and sophomore forward Peter Walker chipped in with 10 apiece. No Tiger player saw more than 22 minutes on the floor.

The Tigers obliterated the school record for three-pointers take in a game with 49 (the previous mark was 32) and set a new standard for treys made with 20. Bucheit and Rustad each had four triples and 10 players in all hit at least one in the game.

The win improved Wittenberg to 20-3 overall and 13-1 in the NCAC. Next up for the Tigers is a home game Earlham on Wednesday, a contest slated for a 7:30 p.m. start at Wittenberg's HPER Center. The regular season wraps up at Wooster next Saturday with a game for first place in the NCAC and home court advantage in the conference championship tournament.
