Men's Basketball Wallops Oberlin To Remain Perfect In NCAC Action

SPRINGFIELD, Ohio - Rebounding nicely from a disappointing home defeat on Wednesday against non-conference foe Otterbein, the Wittenberg Tigers jumped out to an early 19-1 lead and proceeded to bury the Oberlin Yeomen by a final score of 103-53.

The Tigers were never threatened in this one despite the Yeomen's best efforts and physical play. Wittenberg had one of its finest shooting days of the season, canning 26-of-34 from the free throw line, 13-of-30 from three-point range and 32-of-67 overall from the floor. The Tigers outrebounded Oberlin 50-36 after getting beat on the boards for the first time all year against Otterbein.

The Tiger offense showed its usual balance, led by sophomore guard Rod Emmons, who came off the bench to stroke five three-pointers for a career-high 15 points. Freshman center Paul Redman, sophomore forward Peter Walker, senior forward Chad Mossing and junior forward Kevin Longley also finished in double-figures in scoring. Junior center B.J. Harris finished with nine points and 10 rebounds, just missing his seventh double-double of the young season.

The win improved Wittenberg to 11-2 overall and 4-0 in the NCAC. Next up for the Tigers will be Kenyon at home on Wednesday and Hiram on the road next Saturday. Both games can be heard on WBLY 1600 AM in Springfield or via the Internet on Wittenberg's Web site.
