Tigers pull out conference victories on both fronts

The Tiger women pulled out a crucial late season conference victory with a 77-66 win over Denison. The Tigers dominated the game early, but took only a 6 point lead into the locker room at halftime. Denison creeped back to within one early in the second half, and was as close as two with 7:05 remaining in the game. The Tigers were able to pull out the victory by converting 7 of 8 free throws in the last two minutes. Wittenberg was led by the 25 points of Kate Rolf, who also pulled down 6 boards and dished out 3 assists. Rolf was 7-11 from the field and 4-5 from three point range. The Tigers also got 14 points from Stephanie Campbell and 10 from Jamie Brafford. The Tiger women will wrap up the regular season Saturday when the Lady Scots of Wooster visit the HPER Center. Tip-off will be at 2 PM.

The Tiger men came away from Earlham with a decisive 90-63 victory over the Quakers. Earlham had the Tigers on the ropes in the first half, but Wittenberg was able to pull away after the intermission. Wittenberg was led, once again, by Ryan Taylor. Taylor moved into 9th all-time in scoring for the Tigers with his numbers at Earlham. The Tigers travel to Wooster on Saturday for a 7:30 PM battle with the Scots at Timken Gymnasium. The site of the NCAC tournament will be decided by the winner of that crucial game.
