Katherine Haney joined the Wittenberg University athletic department in July 2003. A former Denison University lacrosse standout, Haney helped the Tigers to North Coast Athletic Conference field hockey championship in each of her first two seasons with the program, and as head coach of the women's lacrosse team, her squad has shown dramatic improvement already, going from 2-8 in her first season to 6-8 in 2005.

Haney came to Wittenberg after a year as an assistant women's lacrosse and women's soccer coach at Utica College in New York. Prior to that, Haney spent two years as head girls' lacrosse coach at Smoky Hills High School in Aurora, Colo., and she also has experience coaching Team Colorado in the annual Vail Shootout and assisting with the Mountain Region National Team.

As a player, Haney helped Denison to two NCAC championships and two berths in the NCAA Division III Tournament. Haney was the team's starting goaltender from 1997-2000, and in 2000, Haney had her finest season with a save percentage above .500 and first-team All-NCAC and All-West Region honors.

Haney, a native of Atlanta, graduated from Episcopal High School in Alexandria, Va., where she was a standout in lacrosse.
