Wittenberg University selected Diana (Kuser) Goggins as its field hockey head coach in February 2005. She left Wittenberg following the 2009 season.

Goggins has led the Tigers to five straight winning seasons, culminating with a breakthrough 2009 campaign in which Wittenberg tied for first place in the North Coast Athletic Conference (NCAC) regular season title chase. After losing in the first round of the NCAA Division III Tournament, the Tigers wound up with stellar records of 12-6 overall and 10-2 in the NCAC.

In addition to her overall record of 56-36, Goggins has guided her teams to a five-year record NCAC record of 42-18, second-best in the conference during that time. The Tigers have won at least 10 games in each of her five seasons, and Wittenberg is one of just two NCAC teams to reach the conference tournament in each of those five seasons, winning at least seven games per year in NCAC regular season play. In 2007, the Tigers reached the NCAC Tournament championship game but lost a dramatic 2-1 decision to Kenyon in penalty strokes.

Since taking the reins at Wittenberg, Goggins and her teams have earned numerous honors at the conference, regional and national levels. In 2007, she was named the North Coast Athletic Conference’s Coach of the Year, coached the NCAC’s Rookie and Player of the Year, and placed two student-athletes on the womensfieldhockey.com All-Rookie squad. In her tenure, Goggins has guided eight NCAC players of the week, 28 all-conference selections, 17 NFHCA Division III All-Region and three All-America players, along with 27 student-athletes recognized on the NFHCA Academic squad. Her teams also earned the 2006 and 2008 NFHCA Team Academic Award.

Before arriving in Springfield, Goggins was an assistant coach in 2004 at fellow North Coast Athletic Conference institution Kenyon College. She helped the Ladies to a second-place finish in the NCAC regular season standings and a 14-5 overall record, tying the school record for wins in a season.

Originally from Boyertown, Pa., Goggins earned a degree in English from The Ohio State University in 2002. She was a four-time West Regional All-American, a three-time All-Big Ten selection and won the respect of her peers as a team captain two straight years.

Interestingly, Goggins earned her all-region designations at three different positions during her four years as a Buckeye. She also helped lead Ohio State to the program’s first Big Ten regular season and tournament championships in 2001 and its second-ever appearance in the NCAA Division I Tournament. The Buckeyes were ranked in the top 20 throughout her career, peaking at number five in 2001.

Goggins still actively participates as an athlete in numerous field hockey teams and clubs, including the Central Ohio Field Hockey Club, and is a former Cincinnati Centurion and Miami Cane.

Her first coaching experience came at Kenyon in the 2002-03 school year. The next year Goggins served as head field hockey coach at Holland Hall School in Tulsa, Okla., where she also taught physical education. For several years she has directed the Nike Field Hockey Camp held at Wittenberg, having previously coached camps at OSU, the University of Maryland, and Ohio Wesleyan University. Goggins has also assisted in Futures, located at The Ohio State University.

Coach Goggins currently resides in Columbus, Ohio, with her husband Jason and their son Kaleb.
