Tigers Come Away with Another Shutout Win

Memphis, TN- Wittenberg traveled to Memphis today to take on the Sewanee Tigers and came away with an 8-0 win for their third shutout win of the season 

Less than 4 minutes into the game Katie Webber scored the first of 3 goals in the first quarter off of an assist from Victoria Pipinich. Just a couple of minutes later, Devyn Groves scored to double the lead. Before the end of the first quarter Meike Kwaaitaal found the back of the net after an assist from Emily Owens. In the second quarter, Wittenberg scored two more goals, less than a minute apart from Emmy Kuitjen and Ebony Wyse. Both teams were scoreless in the 3rd quarter, but the Tigers scored 3 more in the fourth. Groves and Kwaaitaal both scored their second goal of the night and Morgan Myers closed out the scoring off an assist from Groves to end the game with an 8-0 win. 

 

Notables: Wittenberg outshot Sewanee 27-5 and had the lead in penalty corners as well, 16-4. Once again, all 3 keepers got playing time, with Essence Wyse getting the majority of time in goal. 

Leaders: The Tigers were led offensively by Kwaaitaal and Groves, each with two goals and 5 different players had assist. Of the 3 goalies, Izzy Thompson had the most shots against her, two, and saved both.
