Tigers End Season On The Road

Richmond, IN- Wittenberg hit the road for their last regular season match-up this year. The Tigers headed out to Indiana to take on the Quakers of Earlham. Wittenberg hoped to defeat the Quakers for a chance at a post season opportunity as the Red & White sat at a conference record of 4-3 prior to the game. After battling it out in four quarters, Wittenberg fell with a 3-1 score, ending their season at fifth in the conference.

Senior, Allison Ormsby was able to pick up her twelfth goal of the season unassisted to give the Tigers their lone goal of the game in the third quarter. On the other end of the field was junior Emma Hurguy in goal. Hurguy faced ten shots on goal and was able to make seven saves to add to her season total of 98.

Wittenberg ends the 2021 season with 4 wins and 4 losses in conference play and an 10-8 overall record. As a team, the Tigers dominated at home with a 5-2 record and an overall win percentage of .556, a best since 2017. Wittenberg will look to return the majority of their starters in the 2022 season including Katie Webber, Rachel Gesell, Victoria Pipinich, Lauren Neutzling, Regan Mazzulli, Caroline Ford, Meredith Johnson, and Emma Hurguy.

Wittenberg will graduate Allison Orsmby, Sofi Hess, Ryleigh Bavineau, and Lilye Morrison who as a class have seen 24 wins with a best conference finish of fourth in their first season as Tigers.

Team Leaders- The Tigers were led this season by Allison Ormsby in goals with 12 on the season, followed by Regan Mazzulli with eight and Katie Webber with five. The trio also led Wittenberg with points on the season; Orsmby with 27, Mazzulli with 18, and Webber with 13. Junior, Caroline Ford had four assists on the season with Orsmby and Webber right behind with three each.

NCAC Stats Leaders- Allison Ormsby is ends the regular season tied number one in the NCAC for goals on the season with 12 and tied for number two in the NCAC for points with 27. Right behind Ormsby in tied in sixth is Regan Mazzulli with eight goals. Mazzulli is also ends the season in the top ten for points, tied at number six with 18. Katie Webber sits just outside the top ten in goals with five on the season. Caroline Ford ends her season tied at number five in the conference for assists with four.

On the defensive side, Shannon Csordos finishes the season tied at number seven in the NCAC for defensive saves with two while Emma Hurguy ends at number two in NCAC goalie leaders for saves with 98 and number three for saves per game averaging 5.76 and a .797 save percentage per game (number six for save percentage).

NCAA Stats Leaders- Emma Hurguy ends her season ranked at number sixteen in Division III for save percentage with the NCAC being represented in the top twenty by four universities.
