Wittenberg Falls in Conference Play

Springfield, OH- Wittenberg was back on Edwards-Maurer Field for another conference match-up to end homecoming weekend. The Tigers saw the Ladies of Kenyon after defeating the Battling Bishops of Ohio Wesleyan in overtime. The Red & White have a close 43-35-2 program record over the Ladies but have faced tough competition in the past four years. Wittenberg looked to add another win to their weekend record but were unable to after falling 3-1 to Kenyon.

The Tigers started off strong with quick offense from senior, Allison Ormsby who was able to tap the ball into the cage from Regan Mazzulli in the first quarter. The Tigers stood deadlocked in the second quarter with both teams battling it out in the midfield. The Red & White would head into the half with a one goal lead over the Ladies but Kenyon was able to get through in the third quarter, scoring twice to take the lead. Kenyon put up one more point in the fourth quarter to take the game 3-1. In goal for Wittenberg was junior, Emma Hurguy who tallied five saves against Kenyon, facing eight shots on goal. The Tigers were able to get three shots off on goal with attempts from Katie Webber, Caroline Ford, and Allison Ormsby. Ormsby's lone goal marks her ninth goal of the season, three of those being in conference play.

Wittenberg currently stands at number seven in the conference with 1 win and 2 losses in conference play and a 7-6 overall record.

NCAC Stats Leaders- Allison Ormsby is currently tied number one in the NCAC for goals on the season with nine. Right behind Ormsby in sixth is Regan Mazzulli with six goals. Caroline Ford sits at number three in the conference for assists with four on the season after adding another one in today's game. Also, in the top ten for assists are Mazzulli, Ormsby, Katie Webber, and Lilye Morrison all tied at number eight with two assists each.

Allison Ormsby continues to sit at number two for points on the season with 20. Just behind her in fifth is Regan Mazzulli with 14. Webber makes the top ten at number ten for points with ten.

On the defensive side, Shannon Csordos is tied at number six in the NCAC for defensive saves while Emma Hurguy currently ranks number two in NCAC goalie leaders for saves with 76 and number four for saves per game averaging 5.85 and a .809 save percentage per game (number six for save percentage).

The Tigers will be back on the road for their next match-up against Oberlin on October 15th at 7PM.
