Greencastle, Ind. – The Wittenberg field hockey team took to the road on Thursday evening, taking down the Tigers of DePauw University 2-1 in the pivotal North Coast Athletic Conference contest. Wittenberg moves to 6-10 on the season and 6-7 in NCAC action. Senior Blaine Donnelly tallied her 100th career point in a Wittenberg uniform with her opening goal in the 35th minute. The Hanover, Md. native has 17 points this season, which include eight goals and one assist.
Game Breakdown
It was a scoreless first half that saw Wittenberg lead the shot count 4-3. The two sides were even at the break on penalty corners at 5-5. Donnelly put the Tigers on the board first, coming off the assist from Flora Van den Borne. Wittenberg added their second goal nearly 20-minutes later, when Kayla Cull found the back of the DePauw cage, coming off the second Van den Borne assist of the night. Wittenberg maintained a 2-0 advantage for 61-minutes before DePauw snuck their first goal past in the 62nd minute of action.

"We came out really hard and played tough until the end. I'm super proud of the team and we played," said Allie Purvis.
"We held our own against a tough opponent, with strong defensive tackles. We found almost every open pocket pass to a forward for some beautiful breakaways during the game, followed by excellent goals," said Alex Reed.
