Tigers Topple Ladies In NCAC Showdown

Gambier, Ohio – The Wittenberg field hokey teak took to the road on Sunday afternoon traveling to Kenyon College, defeating the Ladies 1-0 in an NCAC showdown. The Tigers took down the second-place team in the NCAC, holding Kenyon scoreless on their home field.

How It Happened:

Megan Niswonger found Kennedy Malcolm on the Wittenberg penalty corner attempt, putting the Tigers on the board in the 31st minute of action. Fending off a final Kenyon attack through the second half, as the Ladies led the shot count through the final 35 minutes, 8-2. Wittenberg took the win 1-0. Senior goalie Allie Purvis kept the clean sheet for the Tigers, making six saves on six shots on goal in a full game in the net for the red and white.

"We all came together as a team and worked really hard to get the win. It was an intense game but we stay composed and played our game. It felt good to find our rhythm and we are excited to see how the end of the season plays out," said Kennedy Malcolm.

Wittenberg will travel to DePauw on Thursday, Oct. 25 for a 7:00 PM NCAC showdown from Greencastle, Ind.
