Tigers Battle Denison To 2-1 Decision From The Road

Granville, Ohio – The Wittenberg University field hockey team battled the Denison University Big Red to a 2-1 final decision on Tuesday afternoon from Granville, Ohio. The Tigers were neck-in-neck with the Big Red, who is in the receiving votes category of the most recent NFHCA Top 25 poll through 35-minutes of action. Denison would strike late in the second half to take the 2-1 win after Wittenberg knotted the things back up at 1-1 before going into the break.

Game Breakdown

The Big Red were the first to strike, opening the scoring in the 10th minute of action. Wittenberg responded in the 14th minute with a goal by Blaine Donnelly assisted by Sofi Hess. Denison would regain their lead in the 56th minute, holding the Tigers scoreless over the final fourteen minutes of the game.

Inside The Numbers

Denison would lead the shot count on the day, racking up 15 total shots and placing eight on goal. Allie Purvis made six saves during her full 70-minutes in the cage for the Tigers. The Big Red would take the penalty corner tally at 8-4, giving the Tigers only one set piece opportunity in the second half.
