Richmond, Ind. – The Wittenberg University field hockey team traveled to the campus of Earlham College for an NCAC showdown with the Quakers. The Tigers dropped a tough road battle to the Quakers 4-1 after falling in overtime to Ohio Wesleyan on Wednesday.
Game Breakdown
Earlham was the first to strike, logging their opening goal in the 9th minute of action. The Quakers would hold off the Tigers counterattack through the rest of the first half, taking a 1-0 advantage into the break. Earlham put their second goal in the cage just moments into the second half, expanding their lead out to 2-0. Blaine Donnelly recorded the lone Wittenberg goal on the afternoon, cutting the Earlham lead in half at the 49th minute. Earlham would match the Tiger goal two minutes later, scoring their third goal in the 51st minute. The Quakers would finish their scoring effort in the 56th minute.
By the Numbers
Earlham would hold a narrow shot margin over the Tigers on the afternoon 17-13, as Wittenberg would lead the second-half effort 8-6. The Tigers took the penalty corner category at 10-8, leading the second half total at 8-3.
