Tigers Drop Tough Battle To Kenyon Ladies

Springfield, Ohio – The Wittenberg University field hockey team hosted the Ladies of Kenyon College on Sunday afternoon. The Tigers fell to the Ladies 2-0 as Kenyon took an early lead in the first half, maintaining their advantage throughout the contest.

Wittenberg would tally eight shots against the Ladies on the afternoon. Kenyon would find rattle off 13 of their 20 total shots in the first half. Senior goalie Allie Purvis would make seven saves against nine shots on goal in a complete game in goal for the Tigers. The two sides were evenly matched on penalty corners after the first half of action taking four apiece. Kenyon would take the advantage on penalty corners after the break, getting seven corners to the Tigers two.

Wittenberg will return to action on Wednesday, Sept. 26 when they host the Big Red of Denison University from Edwards-Maurer Field at 4:30 PM in a NCAC showdown.
