Wittenberg Field Hockey Keeps Clean Sheet At Oberlin

OBERLIN, OH- On Saturday morning, the Tigers hit the road to take on the Yeowomen of Oberlin College. The Tigers came out firing, securing a 4-0 and taking Wittenberg to 2-3 on the season and 2-0 in NCAC action.

Game Breakdown

Allison Ormsby and Megan Niswonger would lead the Tigers in shots on the day with nine and five respectively, with Allie Purvis securing the shutout for Wittenberg.

The Tigers made their way on the board as Isabella Wagner tallied her first goal of the season in the 23rd minute of action. Niswonger connected on the Kennedy Malcolm assist in the 51st minute on the long-range penalty corner in the 51st minute to give the Tigers the 2-0 advantage.  Just minutes later, Veronica Carrow slotted her first goal of the season to take the Wittenberg advantage to 3-0. Lilye Morrison would put the final goal in the back of the Oberlin net off the Niswonger assist in the 69th minute. The Tigers took a total of 22 shots on the goal against the Yeowomen while holding Oberlin to just two shots on the day.

Wittenberg moved the ball through the midfield with precise passing combos, creating offensive opportunities from the midfield to the forwards. The Oberlin attack was put on halt as the defense did not allow an Oberlin counter-attack to build any momentum.
